Tonight. Tonight the mosquito population out numbered the humans in Lowell, Indiana. Feasting on human flesh, the scratching ankles continued. Bite after bite the dinosaur looking vampire lived. During this feast of blood something happened. ART in The Shak on a bloody Monday night. Thanks to all the time I haven't painted, this was able to somehow slip through the seems. Tonight this canvas was blank and turned into this in a few hours. Along with some live tunes in a mosquito filled Shak. The flow comes from an inner cycle of mine. If one must know the truth, once a month the act of painting results in an UNQUESTIONABLE flow. Basically, whenever I'm on my period, the cycle somehow lets a flow outside on a canvas. Weird, I know. I feel this intuition when in front of a canvas. Best thing to do is let it flow. Let things go. This one in particular came about in a peculiar way during the night hours.
The newspaper lived in my car since mid Summer. Originally found in the bathroom of a Chicago rappers home. Since then I've been feeling inspired by skulls in general. Recently attending a Misfits cover band, skulls and the piano awaken a creative idea. The color purple used represents a close friend moving to Las Vegas soon. Emotional beings we are. Emotional beings we share a connection here and there. I began with pencil and let the guitar pop through the chicks head. Black Sabbath's album cover ignites the idea for the guitar to come to life. NOT FINISHED YET. But, quite the wicked start. Also, a fuck ton of mosquito bites.

A stones throw away lives a neighbor. This guy lives down the street from my house. Creating music on a Saturday night along side a few other dudes. Righteous, always.
Most of this sound cloud account represents music from The Shak (my neighbors place) --Quite the place to be. Listen for a falling out of time experience. Here's to meeting walks of life. Here's to the beauty of the moment within time. Thank you for sharing an amazing jam, Belladonna.
See you in the future. Let the inner weirdo dance under the roof of BIG SHOTS in Valparaiso, Indiana. This band is unlike any other. The lead singer, Veronica Danko shreds on the ukulele and piano. I also baby sit for her awesome son, Oliver. The two other band members, Nate and Sara are cool too. Once last winter, we all played Cards Against Humanity at Veronica's home. Funny to think these humans play in a band I'm about to see PERFORM LIVE tonight.
I ran into the band members at a Comedy Club in Crown Point mid Summer. Now, in less than 24 hours I'll be enjoying each talent combine into greatness. Can't wait to be a weirdo in the audience. Show starts tonight at 6:15pm, band goes on around 7pm. See you weirdos there! A twelve minute song progression from two people who have never before jammed together. Worth a fucking listen.
Ukulele: Joe Steffek Guitar: Sarah Opat Roomie talking in the background: Jake Grah Frisbee serves an ultimate purpose. As does running bare foot in a soccer field under the beating sun to shag a frisbee from slicing through humid Indiana air. The ultimate power seems to serve as knowledge. Reading has been a highlight for this past month of August. Here's the ultimate books I've allowed into my brain.
The Ultimate Guide to Internships 100 Steps to Get a Great Internship and Thrive in IT by Eric Woodard (AWESOME read and on page 30 something) Love Becomes a Funeral Pyre A Biography of The Doors by Mick Wall (so far so good) Another book on national geographical location in US for hiking -- Also rad. Another book by THE LEGEND known as "The World Teacher", Indian philosopher: Jiddu Krishnamurti. He is a personal favorite who keep the mind open. Another book on tattoo art. Looking to read about tattoo artists to expose my brain for new opportunities. Keep on reading, folks. The brain enjoys such ULTIMATE tasks. Or do nothing. I support relaxation too. Always. A photo transports the viewer to Freedom. Freedom park that is on August 15th 2015.
Every birthday I receive as a gift. A witness of the sun rise means a GREAT day to be alive. To me, birthdays mark one thing -- how many times one has circled around the sun. (Every birthday) I stroll on over to Freedom Park near my home and watch the day rise before these blue hazel eyes of mine. August 15th marks the day. Let's let it unravel in a peculiar way. Usually with a mango in hand and a tired smile across the face. Thank you. This year of being 19 has marked a year of constant change and learning. Thanks to the converse I own for allowing my feet to walk across new (sandy) lands and (sunset dripping) horizons. Artist Biography
Chicago artist, Rory Scott animates a digital world. Time stops as her work travels through space representing a message of memories, and letting go. Accepting change and growing into the whirl of the Universe, Scott transforms each artwork into a dimensional piece of growth. Scott finishes up a six year project, focusing on personal diary entries. These entries made between the years 2010 and 2012 represent a period of significant spiritual, mental and physical growth. This initial release of Scott’s work shines as only a fraction of an ongoing six year project. Here, the Chicago artist begins her journey in the completion of 60 short animated films based on the personal diary entries. Stay tuned. Artist Statement Rory Scott peruses the life of personal growth and affluence by testing faith. This faith begins working as if creativity speaks a directly to her in words of trust. She actively steps out of the structure of time and into her creative zone: the now. The present moment finds Scott testing a personal theory – a theory of which one acts, pursues, and creates as if a personal destination until reached, achieved, and believed. In the hopes to inspire others, Scott reminds herself to not be intimidated by time. For those who fear the emptying hour glass, not having enough time or worry how much time growth requires, please unlatch this fear from the idea of “belief”. Breathe in fresh air, release and let go. Time will pass regardless of the spontaneous emotions released. Scott challenges each scanning eye to embark on positive affluence. “Do something positive you’ve had in your mind or have thought to be impossible. We are greater agents of change than we think.” The power lies within the space of wonder. Written by: Sarah Opat Fearlessly dimensional artist Rory Scott creates a live show this Friday,August 12th in Chicago at NYCH Gallery 6-10pm.
Free and BYOB! All strangers and friends welcome. Please remember meeting new people is a beautiful thing. I hope to chat with anyone who's reading this under the roof of NYCH Gallery this Friday. See you there! Location: 643 W 18th St in Chicago Some say dreams speak a tune of truth. Some say dreams mean nothing and represent the outcome of spontaneous neurons firing. Who knows.
All dreams have a funky story, boring or alive as the Amazon rain forest these images happen. Lately, dreams have been very vivid and alive with random story lines. For example, last night a few different dreams occurred during the REM sleep cycle. One dream in particular stands out. I was walking around on campus where I attend at Purdue Northwest. I walked to find a person I follow intellectually on social media: Jason Silva. A man of many wonders and curiosities. Surprised to see the man, I say what'cha doing here on campus? He says he's going to teach a class here at Purdue. All while this dream is occurring, an amazing indescribable feeling is pulsing throughout my body. Next thing I know, the two of us standing in my kitchen exchange affectionate energies. By this, I mean the type of affection in dreams where a simple close-ness feels intimate. Close and smiling would describe the two of us standing in my kitchen near the sink by the window. Wa la! Neurons fire. Dreams aspire a harmony of curiosity. |
