Line wizard Liz Mares builds her following by shipping art across the country. Her buyers range from Seattle to the Chicago area. Follow the button below to read an artist statement I created for Liz Mares. A phenomenal person who I've known for a year. She has successfully changed my life. Her art speaks through various mediums. From the books on her shelf in her studio apartment to the organic products she treats her clients with as an at home esthetician. The line comes to life in each of Liz Mares' works. Stay tuned for more updates through her Instagram and twitter.
Through every creation from my mind passing through my fingertips, I learn something about myself. Vulgarity comes in all shapes and sizes. This piece as taught me to wash off any negativity. Quite literally I washed this canvas with a wet painted rag. The inricate detail came to inspiration through Alex Grey.
Lollipop boobs called for a fun imagination. The wolf represents the dream I had a week before I sketched this with ink onto the canvas. This animal symbolizes a playful individual who runs with a pack (family). Not in this photograph are the four red roses tattoos onto the left side of the leg. Above the skelaton heads remains the free hand from my brain to this raw material. Enjoy the random fun. This project has allowed for bravery and a calm sense of hellz yeah. ,Friday December 9th at NYCH Gallery, live art oozed out of the two masterminds behind the canavas'. Two artists at one gallery showing a friendship of collaboration and inspiring energy. The live art was acoutined off into the crowd, Jerome somehow won both. All applaud for Jerome. Hope he's doing well.
The Homer Simpson sticker was a business card from a guy named Lou I met at NYCH Gallery. ZAP! Lou Reed's song "Take a Walk on the Wild Side" comes to mind. Since leaving NYCH Gallery in August for another job offer, I felt this needed visit served a vital purpose. This purpose of exposing the eye to strangers who enjoy creating. Creating new conversations at NYCH Gallery to then walking around Pilsen. Visiting other galleries allowed for some new sights: more strangers, free wine, foil with poked holes projected onto a white wall, etc. Thankful for all the people spoken to this Friday night. Quite the night out for two Indianer folks, Alexa and I. There's this satisfied feeling after a visit to Chicago. The art speaks to my soul radiating inside. The following morning I got cracking on this commission piece I'm working on in my basement. Amen to inspiration. Amen to strangers sharing what they may. |
