Kickin' it in my pj's and Cheeze-It's baked snack crackers called Zingz. Like the cracker I am, I beleive in the term "You are what you eat." Along with eating these cheez its and listening to a six hour relaxing meditation song on youtube my mind is running up the wall so of curiosity for the unknown.
My plate of life is full of potatoes and busy things to keep me on track. My legs can't wait to make playing frisbee a ritual of the week with fellow members at escuela. A gravy load of classes, working at the LH and trying to keep in touch with the right people have me busy. Pretty darn soon I'll be working as a sculptor for a bakery in Crown Point on the weekends. I didn't know I could juggle but it seems to me life is training me to do so. Critically thinking of the next step ahead while executing the current festivities have me PUMPED. And tired and able to enjoy the little things in life. May my days be filled with shadows, butterflies, feeling the wind in the air, along with so many other full of energy things. Living means to feel the life around you. Here's to taking on more opportunities to feel the energy of life surrounding every waking moment.

STOP WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING. AND then listen to this shit and continue on what you were doing. The invisible song the universe hums is something my empty pockets will forever appreciate. This tune is FREE of charge and is available at all times. The hum quiets thoughts, opens one's eyes and awakens the soul. Experiencing this feeling comes in the smallest moments. This morning before I had to take the world seriously, I walked outside in my jammies along with Luna (my ukulele). As I strummed a happy tune, two orange and pure black monarch butterflies danced mid-air in my backyard to the universe's song.
The two butterflies danced for about one minute, long enough for my focus to attach to their synergy. There I stood. Barefoot with wet grass covering my cold happy feet attaching to the ground standing beneath me. Observing these butterflies soar through the air while I played my ukulele is living. "Be here now." is a quote I like to remind myself of. Feeling the slight pre-fall breeze dancing with my blonde unbrushed hairs, as my feet felt the ground supporting my entire being, a love of being sank in. I was able to hear the music these butterflies were dancing to. This music is what I like to call life. Cliche, maybe. Real, oh heck yeah. These two butterflies reminded me of how dancing with life as well as your spirit can be done so much more than we normally execute. Be the dancing butterfly of your own life and you just may happen to enjoy the music that is bursting within. If the two butterflies are out there reading this, just know I thank you for being you. - Sarah Not the carpet lady with the memorable phone number. I am speaking of Luna, my beautiful ukulele I am so dearly learning how to play. Fiddling with the strings while in Guitar Center, it was love at first strum. My three friends accompanied me as I, for the first time, played this string-tastic instrument.
Months later these great friends of mine bought me a Luna ukulele for my 19th birthday. We watched the sunrise, ate mangoes, and they handed me the most notable gift there was to receive on August 15th, 2015. Since this day I've been spending at least 20 minutes with the wooden piece of gold. Thus far, Luna has taught me patience, practice, and the beauty of repetition. Between learning chords, strumming patterns, and the new pain on my finger tips Luna has been serving an amazing purpose in my life. My parents say it's making their lives much more relaxed, as well as my nursing student, sister. The stress levels at the Opat home have statistically gone down thanks to Luna. When I'm a rock star/famous ukulele player/copy writer, my three friends Alexa, Tony and Brandon can have front row seats Here's to Luna and I finding harmony. |
