For starters, Elvis and I have one thing in common. We can both do the lip snarl, which makes me somewhat of a legacy if I do say so myself.
I learned Elvis had a twin whom died at birth. His name being Aaron. Aside from that, Elvis is the glamour inside the souls of his blue suede shoes. I thought I had more to say about this man, but it seems his music does most the talking. I suggest listening to his older tunes while folding laundry, or unloading the dishwasher. You'll enjoy your time more. Let the praise begin. All hail Elvis.

Dear Mojo,
I know you're out there and perhaps reading this. I looked under the bed, in the shoe closet, and in the tooth paste cabinet in the bathroom to find nothing. Here's a list of things to make you find your mojo.
Oh what fun it is to ride the East Chicago Train, Chicago bound. The elegant morning light purifies the air as hundreds of sleepy bodies are pulled north to their destiny in the city.
It took the life out of me to brush my teeth, but I can gladly say I did it. Every morning it's a debate if "I have time for it". Which you'd think any normal person would. But then there's me. Normal transition here. My senior year in high school I took statistics because it was a requirement. (Emphasis on the requirement) As one of our projects we had to come up with a survey. Low and behold the survey was how many people brushed their teeth this morning. And following that question, was were they tardy to their first obligation of the day (school). The results concluded the average person brushes their teeth and arrives on time for school. I guess I'm on the other side of this statistic. Side-note: I find it neat to have the understanding of how infinite the space is between my ears. An understanding is probably the wrong word. Awareness of how infinite the space is in retrospect to the "ego" is what I'm beginning to believe in. If this makes me crazy. So be it. What I enjoy cleaning my living room to. A song that can be shared and understood in various ways. Thanks to my oldest sister, Lea for showing me. Truth be told, not all storms are nested in the sky. Some are roaring up from within and all it takes is one song to transform your whole mood. A Cool Hand surely supplies listening ears with a funky beat to keep your car dancing moves in check. Each band member brings forth a triumphant presence to the table of music. The collaboration and stylistic choices tread a different water than your average listen on the radio. A Cool Hand can be found on Youtube, Soundcloud as well as on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/acoolhandband. Their mysteriously catchy sound will have you nodding your head on this rainy day. Who knows. You mayJ inspire the guy next to you to do the same. Train bound, headed north into a black roaring cloud of blue-ish doom is how today began at East Chicago. Come to find out how intoxicating music can be on a sappy mood. Here are some tunes to feel a like a storm chasing bad ass. It is my pleasure to present, A Cool Hand to your table of music. Dig in. This is your conscious speaking. Click the above link. My hands are sweaty just typing about this band and the talent they can bestow upon the world. I also just mowed the lawn, so that may be another reason for all the sweat. Anywho, above is a live recording of A Cool Hand singing Jan 20. Below is one of my favorites, The Freaks. It's time for some new tunes to showcase off to your buddies. Don't have friends? Cool your tots. A Cool Hand substitutes for those, plus there's five of them so your day just got even better. If Jack White and Grizzly Bear had a five man band baby, A Cool Hand would be this ever so talented baby with authentic vocals and serious guitar skills. Each song splatters the wall of eclecticity, furthermore tuning your ears to each band members' output of talent. Next time find yourself eating cheetos on your couch on a Wednesday night, check out these five guys and their talent. Only for your safety, I hope you don't have socks on, because they will surely be knocked off. I recommend listening to this while making a grilled cheese, or for those who are lactose intolerant, a sad bagel with peanut butter. These eight minutes will transform your average time into a sway-tastic time in your kitchen or wherever you may be. Recent studies show that if you sing A Cool Hand lyrics to your scrambled eggs while they cook, they taste better.
Yup. They exist and they won't pick up the penny they dropped either.
Deodorant and music have played a big role in the past few months for me. Shout out to Men's Degree, you've served your duty and then some. I would go into detail about obtaining an internship and what it took to do so, but I am way too tired to talk about trial and error. What matters is the motivation I've instilled within myself to wake up at 5 am to work a 9-5 job two days a week in the city. Free concerts a block away from where I work and strangers everywhere. How about that for size. The people I've met within these past few months have been interesting nonetheless. Here's a list of people I've met and what was shared between them and I.
Douglas. Age undetermined. Leather tan skin and California blonde hair. From Venice, California raised in the city. By the look of his wrinkles, I can tell this man has walked the Earth with his Birkenstock's and macho relaxed attitude for more than five decades. Only talking for five minutes since I had to go back from break, he gave me some Cali insight and plane tips. Julia. A twenty something year old girl who goes to Chicago's Art Institute a block away from where I work. I noticed her sketching by the ever so "famous" Chicago landmark, The Bean. My phone had died and I needed/wanted to check an email I sent out to a coworker to grab coffee (with my no money). I was yearning to at least have a meaningful conversation with an eclectic soul. Julia was able to give just that. Asking to use her phone then lead to me sitting down and discussing how our experiences in art class has transformed our lives. She told me her intake on how amazing our senses are. Hearing for example. She explained it as a different form of matter. Our ears are able to sense and pick up vibrations that travel through the air (like tiny ghosts she explained) to then graze over our ear grass like receptors to produce what we know as sound, language, and then on. Just the matter of thinking of sound as a visible ghost traveling through our ear to tell a secret, good or bad is a new glance. All in all, I was impressed by the ten minute conversation her and I had. Hope she's still drawing out there somewhere. With only three days left here to work with The San Jose Group I will miss meeting such eclectic strangers. Here's to five to ten minute conversations:
I don't care who you are, No Doubt will always be good. May that be while you fold towels, or pull out a splinter you've had in your pinky for two days, No Doubt will make that exact moment better. I would say it's statistically proven listening to Gwen Stefani's band will induce higher levels of seratonin, but I don't have any evidence to support such a (correct) claim. So, instead I will say listening to No Doubt during the Summer months will induce higher levels of gwenatonin in the brain. So, there you have it. Now if you know what's good for you, you'll click the video below. Free shit tends to give people the biggest boners. A dude got a free salad from what I overheard in an elevator today and was way too proud. More proud that you were from your last lame thing you were proud of. Unless you cleaned out your car, that is actually something to be proud of. Or doing dishes, not littering or brushing your teeth. Those three things take the most effort for me to do. But, truth be told, I am getting better at those exact three things.
So back to free shit. Why do people get so hyped about not owing anything for a materialistic item? Beats me. I just know if I was offered a free walking taco, I would most likely take up the offer granted. Besides a walking taco, I appreciate the freeness of the infinite energy we have inside. Always roaring, whooshing, zooming and tingling within every sense we have as humans. I think it's about time we take consideration of the beauty of being able to bring breathe to life within our mortel, aging, already decaying bodies. Here we look forward to not spending money or being able to endorse more than expected when what we have roaring inside our bodies (this spirit, if you may) is the best free shit we could get of all time. Here we have this breathe to live our own lives the way we mold it out to be. The freeness in which one should feel inside their own "being" should be appreciated. Using mindfulness as a virtue rather than daydreaming with clouds of thought fogging one's head will bring so much more patience. So next time you do have a chance to get something free, or maybe you never will get anything free. Just knowing how infinitely free one's spirit is within the five senses we have is enough freedom to catch a grip on the slipping moment. Growing up with a pizza place as your neighbor is John Goodman's wet dream. Luckily, for my family and I we were lucky enough to live the American life of having Pudgy's Pizza place right next door.
Bob and Donna, the cool as shit owners rocked, Hegewisch's pizza place socks off. A town full of pizza eating, beer drinking Polak's is for sure to give Bob and Donna the business they rightfully deserve. In my eight year old eyes, Bob and Donna were the fourth of July American couple who grew out of the eighties and into their mature pizza place owning skin. The most vibrant souls I've ever seen, who owned a rottweiler named Moon. Which is contradicting to all the wind chime Sun shaped garden decorations. I owe my pizza solitude to this couple for supplying my families pizza Fridays with cheesy love full of character. May their ever shining oven lit soul meet harmony one day. |
