[Somebody's gotta say something] Artist P. Scott sets fire to paradigms of perception this April. Pulling resources from the inner workings of the mind and shattering social norms. Melting ideas into the pulsing New York veins of graffiti. Hold onto your fricken pants, people. NYCH Gallery presents the opening reception for this month of April. "Put your heart, mind and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the secret of success." - P. Scott In "Shattered Pyramids," artist P. Scott lights a torch of truth to Western linear and dichotomous perceptions of life and death. "Far out", one might say. The inside out process of Scott's art starts out with constructing 3D mixed-media and found object installations. Destroying them, and then reconstructing new pieces from the remnants of the former ideas. Scott’s highly and inherently structural designs are demolished, but the fragmented remains find their reawakening in new static configurations. This daring approach enables P. Scott to move beyond institutional norms. Exploring a play of freedom and structure urging us to consider what forms live beyond these constructs. Just as physical structures find renaissance in chaos, humanity too has the knowing power of ultimate transformation. Triggering a revolution of the entire belief systems in times of discord through P. Scott's use of black and white. Scott exposes a fetish for opposites, Attracting the opposites into one cohesive piece of art. The hope to trigger a flickering light bulb in the head of the audience. P.Scott successfully deconstructs and transcends common notions of race and identity into the atmosphere at NYCH Gallery. As humanity circles into the cycle of death and rebirth one must be prepared to shatter pyramids of the past to transcend current reality and imagine new possibilities. All reading eyes are invited to NYCH Gallery Friday, April 8th 6 -10pm. Free entry & BYOB 643 W. 18th St. xoxo Urban Girl Word.
